it's winter time. wait, what?

silly utah, who do you think you are snowing before halloween? it was so pretty though! something about those big fluffy flakes that make me smile! but, i wasn't ready to let go of fall yet. i do love the way the snow looks against those orange trees. we really do live in a beautiful state.

i hope you all have a happy weekend!

sometimes

....you just need to wear your uggs, even if they aren't in "style" anymore.
....the crunch of the leave brings a smile to your face.
....fall is quickly is fading away due to the first snow we are having today. i guess winter will be gracing us with her presence sooner than we would like.
....you love your short hair.
....everyday is struggle, but you try your hardest.
....your birthday is almost here!
....the highlight of your day is when the husband comes home.
....it's hard to write in words what you feel.
....hart of dixie is your new favorite show.
....tea makes everything better.
....sleeping in is a must.
....finding ideas for dinner is easier somedays than others.
....target has really cute things, and you wish you could buy them all.
....pretty little lairs has to go and screw with your emotions. what the heck was up with the halloween special? ugh!

have a happy snowy day {if your where it snows} loves.

1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 can diced tomatoes {i used italian style but, plain would be fine too.}
1 can white kidney beans
1 can red kidney beans
1 cup cooked pasta {i used what i had the the cupboard. i would suggest a shaped pasta}
fresh parmesan

spices {i tend to eye ball my spices. so use as much or as little as you like!}
garlic powder
onion powder
red pepper flakes
dried oregano
celery salt
salt & pepper

directions
+ brown your meat in a skillet until cooked.
+ chop zucchini, celery and carrots place in crockpot or pot.
+ pour beef stock, beans, and tomatoes in crockpot or pot.
+ now add all your spices and stir well.
+ if your cooking in a crockpot, cook on low for 6-8 hours. if your cooking on the stove in a pot, cook on low heat for 2-4 hours. {just long enough for all flavors to simmer and get yummy!}
+ 30 min before you want to eat cook your pasta and than add to soup. let simmer for 30 min.

the little things

i have been struggling the last week or so with how to write in words what i am going through. i really have no idea what to say. i've even deleted two or three posts because i felt they didnt really say what i wanted too.

so, im just going to say...lately i have been trying to focus on the little things that make me happy. i am trying to let things go. im trying to not worry if otheres will judge me for feeling the way i do. im trying to stay strong. i am trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel and im trying to be patient. it is so hard. i guess that just means i am human. right?

i like to write about my struggles on this little blog of mines so, i can look back at all the things i have gone through. i know someday i can look back at this and say "i made it. i got through that trial". i really do believe we go through trials to learn more about us and to grow as a person. at times it may not seem that way, but i know it to be true.

i am grateful for my heavenly father who loves me through all my struggles. im grateful for my loving family and friends and of course im grateful for my amazing husband. he really is my rock. he knows how to how to put me at ease when i am having a rough time and really not seeing the big picture. i dont know how he does it. i am really am the luckiest girl.

and on a happy note: don't forget tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the fall book swap.

a recipe: pumpkin chocolate chip cookies

1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon milk
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine pumpkin, sugar, vegetable oil and egg. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Dissolve the baking soda with the milk and stir in to the flour mixture. Add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture and mix well.

Add vanilla and chocolate chips. Stir it up.

Drop by spoonful on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly brown and firm. {I baked mine for 11 and they were perfect.}

I made these the other day and then took em over to my in laws and let's just say they were a hit. I personally loved them when they were cold! Hope you enjoy! :)

general conference {weekend}

this weekend was filled with spiritual nourishment, laughter, family, snuggles, cold mornings, boot wearing, pizza eating, jewelry making, visiting puppies + kitties at the pet adoption in SLC, sleeping in, watching church in our jammies, cleaning, and a fun date night.

this was one of my favorite weekends. it was just what this girl needed. did you watch conference? what was your favorite talk? i heard there was a great talk on saturday afternoon about children. we didnt watch but, i can't wait to hear. my favorite talk was henry b. eyring's talk sunday morning. amazing. it was like he was speaking only to me. don't you love that?!

a blogger cliche

last weekend i was a straight up a blogger cliche. maxi skirt, chambray and my new statement necklace from oasap. i love it oh so much. it adds just the right pop to any outfit.

have you checked out oasap yet? get over there now. they sent me this necklace a few days ago and i've worn it everyday since. well maybe not everyday. but, i love it.
