just a bag of peanut m&ms

my father in law loves peanut m&ms, so my mother in law came up with the cutest idea for their wards trunk or treat. we all went as his m&ms. so cute and everyone loved it! :)

it was a normal day, i was 25 week pregnant. i had my gloucose test that afternoon. i drank my nasty drink and off we went to the appointment. we discussed what we should do for dinner after we were done. i was starving and was looking forward to going somewhere for dinner.

they took us back and did the usually weight, blood pressure and we waited for the doctor. she came in asked how i was doing and had me change. when she came back we got to see our babies on the ultrasound!

i knew something wasn't right the moment she placed the doppler on my tummy. she usually talks to us a lot and take a ton of photos for us. she didn't. she was quiet. i remember looking at dan with a worried face. she helped me sit up and told me "your cervix is half the size it should be." she said she wanted to check my cerivx. she did "it's about a 1 but could probably stretch to a 2". she had me change back into my clothes.

she came back in and said she would like to admit me upstairs. i cried. i was terrified. dan just squeezed my hand.

they got my upstairs to labor & delivery. hooked me up to monitors and started doing all sorts of things. the contractions started right away and were very uncomfortable. they were very close together and very frequent! we were scared and worried. we started calling parents. my in laws, my dad and stepmom (and little sister) arrived. dan, my dad and father in law gave me a blessing. i felt calm and understood no matter what happened everything would be ok. can i just say how grateful i am for the power of the preisthood. i have seen it work some amazing miracles even after the babies were born!

after awhile my doctor came back and said they were going to go ahead and transfer me to the U. they are better equipped to handle babies at this age. i lost it. i thought they were going to be born that night. i was terrified. after a while the life flight crew arrived and started doing their thing. someone called my mom and told her they were life flighting me she and my stepdad jumped in the car and drove all night from California.

after a quick ride in the helicopter we arrived and they got us set up in a room. that started a LONG LONG night of constant monitoring and zero sleep. my contractions were close together and painful. after several hours they finally slowed down after medicine and such.

the next morning we were transferred to another room where we stayed for a few days. i was then put on bed rest. they allowed us to go home and let me finish my bed rest at home. where i stayed for 10 weeks, they were born at 35 weeks! 10 weeks to the day since the scare! i remember being SO uncomfortable the whole time. my belly would get so hard and hurt. i literally go only lay in bed, shower, go to the bathroom and lay in bed. i do not miss that! i do however miss the sleeping all the time thing, hahaha!

it was a blur of a week. i just remember dan being so strong and my rock. he held it together for me. i cant even imagine what he was going through.

a year later we have 2 babies who are adorable and healthy. we feel so blessed to have these two babies in our lives and we wouldn't change anything!

whirlwind

these last 9 1/2 months have flew by. ill admit those first 6-8 weeks did not fly by. everyday i as myself "how in the heck are they so big?" henry and campbell are literally growing everyday! just yesterday campbell pulled herself onto her knees. i was like "woah, sis!". i sort of love this stage right now. they can hold their own bottles, feed themselves {for the most part}, and play together! sure makes things easier for me.

lately i have been thinking about the first few weeks of our life with twins. it was a blur. i honestly can't remember much. sleep deprivation....nuff said. i do remember how i loved that we were a family of four.

right now at this current stage going places is becoming more of a challenge. they are becoming more active and opinionated {which i can only imagine will get worse!} we have been trying to do some things now though. when they were tiny we didnt leave the house for months! haha. im slowly learning to let things go and to remember things cant go the way i want them to at all times.

i love those twinsies. i cant remember life without them, and i may have started planning their 1st birthday!

before we know it, its going to be january. ahh! tonight we are going to the special care nursery {nicu} reuion at lds hospital. hopefully we will see some of campbell's nurses. we are so grateful for them and all the did for her, and our family!
