book review >>> divergent

"In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance."-via amazon.com

This book had been on my reading list for a while. After my morning sickness went away I felt like reading again and finally clicked purchase on my kindle. Best decision ever. This was quite the page turner.

What is it about Young Adult books that hook me in? Hunger Games, Clockwork series, Matched, Delirium, etc. I can't help it. So it's about this girl Tris who has to choose where she will spend the rest of her life. She seems a bit Bella-ish. At first I was I was all oh no another "poor me girl" Nope, this girl is pretty tough like Katniss. She chooses her Faction and is thrown into a whole new world for her. She even meets a hunk names Four. They have quite the sexual tension the first part of this book if you ask me. When they finally kissed I about scream "FINALLY!"

In this Faction they train to be fighters, basically. That's how she falls for Four. I don't want to give away too much but, there is some crazy twists towards the end. I could not put it down.

Lucky for us all there is 3 books in this series. I am currently reading the 2nd and love. I highly suggest this book. If you have a kindle it's only 3.99. Score right. What are you waiting for go get yourself a copy. The third comes out in October!

Any suggestions for me to add to my list? I wanted to do the whole 25 books before im 25 in November but, I am a "little" behind. Oops! That whole morning sickness took almost 2 months away from me.

book review >>> delirium

"They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever. And I’ve always believed them. Until now. Now everything has changed. Now, I’d rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie."

That is the description from Amazon. That alone hooked me in. This book was amazing. Loved it all. I loved the whole story line of a future world where the government controls things {like my favorite series hunger games}. It really made me think how I would handle living like that. Here we have this girl Lena {love that name!} who is only months away from her procedure. When you are of age in this world...you have this procedure done to cure you from ever experiencing love. I cannot even imagine never being able to feel and experience love. Can you?! Not only do they control everything, they have manipulated everyone in thinking what they are doing is for good. Lena will soon find out its all a lie.

Anyways, Lena meets this boy Alex and well you guessed it....they fall in love. Which is poor timing considering she is about to get cured. Oh yeah I forgot to add when you get cured you also get matched with 3 people and will end up with 1 of the 3. Can you believe that? The government choose how you live your life and who you will live it with. Sad right? Lena gets matched with this guy who straight up says she looks ugly. How rude! Anyways...

Lena and Alex are perfect together. I love them together, it's like forbidden love. The books ends and you will literally scream. I need to read the 2nd book Pandemonium. Like stat. But, now I am reading City of Bones for the Bloggy Book Club! {you can still sign up!!!!}

Have you read Delirium? Let's discuss! See another book review here

book review >>> the american heiress

I received this book from the fall book swap and I could not put it down. It was amazing. It made me laugh out loud, cry, scoff, and angry all in a matter of a few pages. I love me a book that can cause me all those emotions. The American Heiress is one of my new favorite books. I owe it all to Alacia for sending me it for the fall book swap! Here are the amazon reviews/description:

"Anyone suffering Downton Abbey withdrawal symptoms (who isn't?) will find an instant tonic in Daisy Goodwin’s The American Heiress. The story of Cora Cash, an American heiress in the 1890s who bags an English duke, this is a deliciously evocative first novel that lingers in the mind." --Allison Pearson, New York Times bestselling author of I Don’t Know How She Does It and I Think I Love You

Be careful what you wish for. Traveling abroad with her mother at the turn of the twentieth century to seek a titled husband, beautiful, vivacious Cora Cash, whose family mansion in Newport dwarfs the Vanderbilts’, suddenly finds herself Duchess of Wareham, married to Ivo, the most eligible bachelor in England. Nothing is quite as it seems, however: Ivo is withdrawn and secretive, and the English social scene is full of traps and betrayals. Money, Cora soon learns, cannot buy everything, as she must decide what is truly worth the price in her life and her marriage.

Witty, moving, and brilliantly entertaining, Cora’s story marks the debut of a glorious storyteller who brings a fresh new spirit to the world of Edith Wharton and Henry James.

"For daughters of the new American billionaires of the 19th century, it was the ultimate deal: marriage to a cash-strapped British Aristocrat in return for a title and social status. But money didn’t always buy them happiness." --Daisy Goodwin in The Daily Mail"

I loved her writing and the way she made the main character Cora feel relatable even though she is from a different time and fictional. Cora was a spoiled, head strong, not by the book rich girl. I loved the story of Cora and her struggle to know her real love/what is best for her future. She was an unconventional duchess of her time and I loved that about her. There were times when I wanted to scream at her and times when I just wanted to hug her. Can you tell I get really wrapped up in books?!

I highly recommend it, like no joke guys. read it! I was so heartbroken when it was over. The ending will leave you in tears! Maybe it's my love for most things from this time period but, man this was one good book! Next on the read list is: Heart on a Chain by Cindy C Bennett for this awesome book club. Did you join?!
