This week on weekly link up, Ashley and I wanna know what you love about the state you live in. 

I have lived in Utah for a little over a year now. I was born and raised a California girl. So when I got married and moved to Utah it was a little different {ok, alot different!} But, I really don't mind it all. I actually don't really miss California all that much. I guess I was meant to be a Utah girl. I love the mountains so much. I visited CA a few months ago and had a mini panic attack because it was sooo flat there. Weird huh? Since I lived there my whole life. haha. Utah, is just so pretty. Pretty in a different way from California. Don't get me wrong Ca is soooo pretty but, in a TOTAL different way than Utah. Ca has the beach. {Nothing can beat that!} But, Utah has the mountains. Which are so gorgeous in their own way.

Utah has so many awesome things to offer. A lot of people don't think so. I know growing up, a lot of my friends where like "Ewww Utah" But, honestly I love it here. I love the views, the people and the weather. 


I love that I am a Utah girl. Dan and I don't really see ourselves living anywhere else. I feel like Utah is a wonderful place to stay and raise our someday family. I am not saying its the only place to. Just saying I feel like its a really good place. I know that anywhere can be a good place to raise a family. Honestly, I don't think I would want to raise a family in California. {CALM DOWN DONT GET MAD ME CA PEEPS} I have my reasons and there are mine to have. We are all entitled to our own opinions right?! Trust me, I am not hating on Ca. Just saying have lived in CA and now Utah. I would choose Utah to live and CA to visit.

Wow, I feel like post isn't coming out how I wanted it too. I am trying to say I love Utah for being different than CA. && I love CA for oh so many reasons. I mean thats where I grew up. CA has so many things to offer. So, don't think I am hating on CA! Just saying I love Utah! haha

Hunger Games: My Thoughts

Did you see Hunger Games this weekend? If you haven't seen it yet. Go ASAP! It was so amazing. I highly recommend reading the books before you see it but, that's just me. Anyways, so I have been pondering the movie ALL weekend. Literally. Ask Daniel, I couldn't sleep Friday night because I was processing it all. 

Where to start? I think I'll make a likes/dislikes chart. Yes, that's what I'll do. Deal? Ok. I'll start with the dislikes since there wasn't very many. 

{WARNING: If you havent seen the movie or read the books, DONT READ}

Dislikes:

+ Gale. I thought I would love him since I think he's mighty fine. Honestly, I thought he was terrible. Sorry Liam. {did you hear that him and Miley are engaged? what the what? wonder if it's real}

+ The shaky parts when Katniss was having her hallucinations. Gave me a headache. 

Likes: 

+ Katniss was AMAZING. Jennifer Lawrence was the perfect Katniss. 

+ They did such a good job sticking with the book. I was so happy. I feel a little sad for those of you who haven't read it because, it's that good!

+ Cinna: Lenny was the PERFECT person to play him. He did so good! Go Lenny! 

+ The opening scene of her running through District 12 is exactly how I pictured it. The people, the houses, the clothes, everything. Is exactly how I had it in my head. 

+ The scene when Peeta tosses Katniss the bread in the rain. Um, PERFECT! 

+ Speaking of Peeta. Uhhh can you say brilliant. I can't even! 

+ The people in the Capitol. Again with it looking like how I pictured it. 

+ Haymitch: Woody was actually perfect for that role. I wish he played more into the drunk part of his role. 
+ Effie was just like I pictured her in the book. Everything about her was perfect!

+ In arena when the were all standing there waiting for the games to start, my heart was racing so fast. I was so excited. 

+ Katniss' outfits were perfect.

+ The cave scene. Uh, I DIED which leads to...

+ ....the first REAL kiss between Peeta and Katniss. Enough said.

+ When peeta was hiding in the mud. I laughed so hard.

+ When rue died I cried my eyes out. Not sure why I did since I knew it was coming.

+ Oh and I cried when the called Prim's name in the reaping. Yea such a sap.

+ The braid touch. Seriously, couldn't have been more perfect! SWOON!

I tried to put my thoughts into more of a meaningful post but, I am still in the processing state of it. {bahaha} This movie was hands down amazing. I want to see it again and again. Maybe we'll see it when my mom and stepdad come visit this weekend. Hands down favorite movie of the year. I know it. Oh and have you seen this horrid Breaking Dawn trailer? No, well here it is. Really, really, really? "We're the same tempature."......BARF! Guys, I can't even. So glad this is the last one. haha!

as you can see this weekend packed full. it was so much fun. shopping with ashley was the best. i love that girl. we had oh so many laughs. hey, ashley remember when you dropped that nail polish at forever 21. oh and when we walked around the parking garage trying to find your car. oh and lets not forget me trying to give directions to my house and being SUPER dyslexic. sorry girl! haha. such a fun weekend. hope you all had a happy weekend. check back tomorrow to read all my hunger games thoughts. i have ALOT! xoxo

guys, its finally here. {cue fan girl screaming} most of you have probably seen the movie already. shhhhh dont tell me. the hubby and i are seeing it tonight. i cannot wait. this day better go fast, so i can be sitting in my chair in the theatre wearing my peeta shirt.  you best believe i am wearing it. i dont even care if people think i am some young teen fangirl/nerd. not even ashamed.

I admit when Twilight came out I was all team twilight. Then the last book and movie came out. Then I was all "Whyyyyyy???" Needless to say I am sooo TEAM HUNGER GAMES! Which is so fitting since the movie comes out Friday. Guys, I am seriously so excited. Talk about fan girl freak outs everyday this week. Phew!

So, now that we know I am all Hunger Games. That leaves one more question. Team Peeta or Team Gale? Well, I'll be honest. In the books I was Team Peeta most the time, then I felt bad for Gale so I was Team Gale for like a few chapters. Then with the release of the movie I wasn't sure about Josh Huchterson as Peeta. But, with all the teasers I have seen and photos. I have proud to say I am so TEAM PEETA. He is a perfect Peeta and I cannot wait to see the movie all the way through on Friday!

Why am I Team Hunger Games? Well, because I love the way these books were written. I loved that each and every character felt real to me. Like I could really be friends with them all. Well all but Snow and Coin. I didn't like them at all. Anyways, Hunger Games is just a great story. It kept me interested. Each book were extreme page turners. I just love the whole story. I love when a book takes me into another time and makes me feel like a part of it. Its pretty much awesome sauce. Suzanne Collins knows what's up. haha!

What does your blog title mean?

I don’t really remember how my title came about. I was just thinking of possible blog names one day… Flip Flops just make me happy and I really wanted to include them in my title. I love taking pictures with my Canon 40D and sharing my latest just-for-fun photo shoots. I would love for my blog to be a place of happiness. A place where people can come be encouraged and inspired with lots of fun things in between….hence, the “Happy Thots.” (And I just wanted to be different, so I changed the spelling just a bit. ;)

Why do you blog?

My sister and I had a blog a few years ago, but had to do away with it for private reasons. I was missing Blogland. So, I decided to create another blog to be an encouragement for young ladies in their walk with Christ. A blog where women could see God’s amazing purpose for their life. We have a few guys along for the adventure, but that’s okay. They need encouragement sometimes too. ;)

Hmmmm, what do I do when I’m not blogging?.... School. Yup, it consumes my life right now. Marli’s life=school + work + blogging. (Just kidding, I do have my “womanly chores” to do around the house too.) In my spare time, you can find me hanging out with friends, shopping, riding horses with my sister, or who knows, fetching eggs from the chicken coop. Needless to say, I have a very cool and exciting life!

the flu is stupid

Hi guys. So if you follow me on twitter or FB. You might know I have some sorta flu bug. I started feeling crappy Friday night after we went to the movies. Then Saturday morning I was stuck in bed. By the afternoon I felt better. So, we went out with some friends {Hi Megan and Kevin!} and saw The Vow. Even better the second time. Then I started feeling SUPER crappy again and have since then. Sunday night I felt super brave and ate real food my mother in law sent home with Dan. {Thanks Susan!} Real food was a bad idea. My tummy is so angry at me. So I will continue my diet of saltines, ginger ale, water, and toast.  

Psssttt....FRIDAY IS HUNGER GAMES DAY!!!! eekkkk!

The fear of not being perfect. I know, nobody is perfect. I always want to be though. So I am working toward being ok with not being perfect!

our anniversary weekend

Before I tell you all about our weekend, I want to take a second to send a HUGE thank you to those who send Dan and I Anniversary wishes yesterday; via blog comments, twitter, and facebook. I admit I teared up last night after reading through all of them.  I am feeling very humbled by all the sweet words in which you sent our way. We love each and every one of you. We really appreciate the love and support during this first year of our marriage. So, know that you made our day just a little more special! Thank you oh so much! <3

This weekend we headed to Midway, Utah to stay at Johnson Mill. It was such a gorgeous place and we will totally be going back. I high recommend it. We enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend full of, eating, shopping at the outlets, and just spending time together. I loved this weekend. I look forward to celebrating a million more anniversaries with my hubby!

the first anniversary

Today is the day. Our ONE YEAR anniversary. Geez, I cannot even believe its been a freakin' year! The first year of marriage flew by, oh boy did it. All last week I thought about this first year of marriage and all the memories we've made and I thought about the day in which we are celebrating.

I remember our wedding day like it was yesterday. I remember all the emotions I felt. Even sitting here typing this I am overcome with tears of joy. 

The night before the our wedding Dan's sister, Dan and I were at my mom's house. {Steph was playing "chaperone" haha} He was getting his stuff and gonna sleep at his parents hotel that night. Anyways, I remember saying good night to him and being SO happy that, that was the last time we had to do that. 

That night before bed I remember talking to my mom about how it was finally here. There was hardly any sleeping that night, I was too excited to sleep. When my alarm went off at I believe 6am {it may have been earlier don't remember}. I shot outta bed and said aloud "I am getting married today!!!!!". It was a wonderful feeling. 

As my friend did my hair, I just sat in silence I was feeling so many things. It was a weird/happy/exciting feeling. Dan and I drove to Sacramento Temple together as our families followed behind. I can't tell you what we talked about the drive there because I don't remember. 

Once we were at the temple most of it was a blur up to the part when Dan and I sat in the celestial room all by our selves just taking in the spirit we felt that moment. We knew we were doing the right thing. We knew this was a special moment. A moment when we could feel close to our Heavenly Father. I loved that moment. It was my favorite of the whole day. 

We then were sealed in front of our family and friends for time and all eternity by my grandpa. What a special time that was. I will never ever forget that. 

The rest of the day went so fast. It was filled with family, friends, love, happiness, laughter, tears and pure joy. I cannot believe that it has been one year since that very day. This year has been amazing. I love being able to see Daniel every single day. I love sleeping next to him, saying our prayers together, spending our weekends, laughing with him, snuggles, cooking him dinners, and I love learning new things about him and me everyday. 

This has been the best year of my life. I look forward to spending an eternity as Husband and Wife. I love all the memories we have made in this first year as a little family of two. I will cherish these times forever! I am so excited for the day when we will become a family of three. I know that day will come when the time is right. I love that we and our future littles can be together forever because we got married in the Temple.

Happy Anniversary Babes. I love you oh so much! Thank you for being the best Husband I could've asked for. Love you! {MUAH}

snickerdoodles for the hubby

you see, i have this hard working hubby. i am so proud of him and how hard he works for our family of two. so, yesterday i decided to do something i haven't done in AWHILE for him. bake him his favorite cookies. snickerdoodles. i know i am such a good wifey. i even cooked him an awesome dinner too. anyway, the cookies turned out so good i decide to share the recipe with you all. 

+get all your ingredients together

+make sure you have your recipe close by

+cream together butter, sugar, and eggs

+add dry ingredients and mix

+put sugar and cinnamon in bowl

+place mixed dough and ungreased sheet in freezer for about 8min

+mix your sugar and cinnamon

+roll 1in balls in sugar and cinnamon mixture

+place on cookie sheet and bake

+for 10 min until they look like this

i used this recipe. 

seriously, go bake them right now. 

they are so soft and yummy!
