weekly link up: most memorable date

This week on "Weekly link Up", we wanna know all about your most memorable date. It can be a funny, cute, amazing, horrible, bad awkward or whatever kind you wanna share. 

Guys, I didnt really date much before I got married. I never really liked the idea of dating. I can probably count the number "dates" I've had on one hand. haha Anyways, I wanna share with you all the story of the Hubby and I's VERY first date since its a pretty awesome story! WARNING: It's a long one, but a must read.


The background: The Hubby and I met while he was on his mission. He served in the Singles Branch I was attending. I only remember talking to him a few times, I had a "boyfriend" at the time and you can say I wasn't in the "look at the cute missionaries" phase like all the other girls. Anyways, the Hubby went home and about a year after he had been home. I noticed he started to like pictures of FB or like my status'. I would tell all my friends about and they all were like maybe you guys are soul mates. You know silly friend comments. haha! 


One day in March 2010 he messaged me on FB and we started chatting. I had to go somewhere so I did something I never would have done before....I gave him my number. MY NUMBER! Yeah, cray cray. I didn't think he would text me but guys guess what he did. "Hope I put this in right...is this Eryka?"---thats the text I received. Alright, so after that day we started the talking everyday phase. We would text, fb chat, skype, and talk on the phone. 


So after about a month of the talking everyday. I had a Utah trip planned to visit my cousin and of course to see Dan. So we could finally go on our first date. So now onto the first date story! haha


The first date: After a SUPER nerve racking flight to Utah, I landed. As I walked to baggage claim to meet him I was a WRECK. Super nervous. Oy! So I started going down the escalator I could seem him standing at the bottom holding a pink rose and sign that said "ERYKA". {CUTE THE AWWWW} 


After a awkward hug we headed to his car and off to sushi we went. I don't really remember what we talked about. I do remember it was super awkward at first but, after dinner it wasnt so much.  As we were walking to the car he said "I wish we could do what they were doing" {a couple holding hands walked by...haha} Yeah, we held hands! 


From dinner we went to his house to watch "Hot Rod". At his house I met his parents for the first time and then we watched "Hot Rod". So they we are watching "Hot Rod" sorta cuddling on the couch. My cousin Annie called to see how it was going and to see when I was gonna be at her house. Before we said bye she asked "Are you falling in love yet?" But, Dan could totally hear her and we both started cracking up. Super funny! 


After the movie he took me to Ogden where I was staying at Annie's. He came in and visited for a little and then I walked him out to his car and in my Aunt and Uncle's garage we had our very first kiss. Yeah we kissed on the first date. Bahaha! 


..and the rest is history!

oscars: the fashion

let's be honest over here. the only reason i watch the oscars is the FASHION. i love to see what the celebs wear on the red carpet. dont you? this year i didnt get to watch the red carpet stuff but, i watched some of the real deal and i knew my faves. the dresses this year were amazing! 

michelle looks stunning, kristen wigg is gorgoeus,  erin from the office looked so pretty, and lets talk about how amazing meryl streep looks. she is stunning. i admit i cried during her speech. what can i say i am a sap and i love meryl she is my fave. && woah dang jonah hill looked smokin and so did christopher plummer looked pretty smokin for a old guy!

So yesterday I was watching Titanic and of course I thought about seeing it with one of my best friends in elementary school Juliet. I am sure other friends were there but, I only remember Juliet being there. You see, she and I were HUGE Leo Dicap lovers. She and I each saw that movie about 4 times in the theaters. Cray Cray huh?! NOT! I of course had to facebook her and tell her I was watching. Anyways, that lead to a convo about how Leo is still mighty fine. In fact he has gotten hotter with age. Don't you agree? You better. haha JK you dont have to agree with me. 

Do you agree with me now? Hopefully yes!

The Shine Project: Pass it Forward

Hi readers! Today we have something special going on over here on ABCDE today. Do you know Ashley from The Shine Project? No, well you should. She is one amazing lady. Seriously, she is such an example to me on how to be a better person. Haven't read her blog. Then you totally should. Read all about her giving back here. 

Last week Ashley tweeted that she needed some bloggers to spread the word of the new secret project and I volunteered. I am so excited to share it with you all. Ok, now to the good stuff! 


The secret project is called: Pass it Forward.

"Pass It Forward was designed to get people to do little things, everyday, that makes an impact on the community around them. Pass it Forward is designed around a card (read card that I've attached now so you understand). Each card is given a unique ID number. Lets say we're at McDonalds, and I decide to pay for the person behind me in the drive through. I'd give the cashier the card, and tell them to pass it along to the next car when the give them the food that has been paid for. I then go home and log into the website that was on the card, and find my unique ID number. I log into it, and add my information... My first name, city, and a description of what I did....

Let's say the person behind me was you, you would pass it forward to someone else, and then would go home and do the same thing. From the very beginning, you will be able to track where your card goes, and how many people you affect just by doing one simple act of kindness." -Ashley from The Shine Project

Sounds awesome huh? Yep it does. I cannot wait to get my card so I can start doing some good. I need to start thinking about how I am going to use it. Hmm?! :)

This photo is my fave because it is the VERY first picture of us....

My cousin Annie took this picture during my first trip here to Utah. During that trip we had our first kiss, fell head over heels in love, and we also we knew it was for reals. We knew during that week we were going to get married. You see, I love this picture because it reminds me of all the crazy feelings I had that week. It was one amazing week, it was the week I finally knew I had found the mad I was going to spend the rest of my life with!

So I didn't get you a card for your Valentines day gift, so I decided to write a very PUBLIC love note for you. Geez boy. I love you oh so much. I love that you are my best friend, I love that you know how to make me smile when I don't what to. I the way you kiss me after we say prayers. I love how you hold me when I am sad. I really love how much you do for our little family. I love the way you snuggle me. 

I feel so blessed to have you in my life, lucky for me you came at just the right time. I honestly don't know what my life would be like without you. Good thing I don't have to know. I love that we can be together forever. I think about the day we kneeled together at that alter in the Temple. I think about how special moment was. The way you were looking into my eyes. I loved that moment. The moment we were sealed forever together. Such a special day! 

Hunny bunny, I love you so much. Thank you for all you do for me! You are such a wonderful husband! Thank you for loving me, for me!
