i have a special place in my heart for mother's day. you see i have my momma, but then i have a step mom too. both these women have helped me grow into the woman i am today. my mom and heather {my step mom} are amazing examples of what kind of mother i want to be. i love them both so much!
earlier this week, i was feeling a little down for a few reasons. one, my momma is so far away in ca and i wont be with her today. two, i thought i would be pregnant by now and on my way to being a mom myself. i am not and felt sad. after several days of prayer and much needed talks with hubby i am okay with it. i know my time i will come. i will have many mother's days where i get to be celebrated. until then i will celebrate all the mom's in my life who have been amazing examples to me. the last thing that makes me a little sad is something that really hasn't effected me til recently. {mom, this might make you cry...sorry!} is not having my mom's mom here with us anymore. {she passed away when i was in 7th or 8th grade} there are so many things i wish she were here for. i think of how if she were still alive we could visit her often as orem is not that far from me now, or how dan and her would probably be best friends. it's times like these i am so grateful for my knowledge of the gospel. i know my grandma do do {doreen} is waiting for us and we will see her again someday.
now, that i am married i get to add one more mom to that list. my wonderful mother in law susan. i really lucked out in that department. i hear some crazy stories of mother in laws who aren't very nice to their daughter in laws. oh boy, i feel blessed to have susan in my life. she is always there for me to give me great advice or to help us in anyway. she really is the best. i love her!
&& finally, i want to say thank you to all those who i have come in contact with in my life who showed me what it is to be a mother. grandmas {thankful i have more than 1}, friends, young women leaders, aunts, cousins, blog friends and even strangers. i am a better person because of you all.
so, today is your special day {really everyday should be} the hubby and i wish you all a happy mother's day and we love you all!

beautiful written and great quote! :)

ReplyDeleteI felt a twinge of sadness this morning realizing I would have been a mother this year if everything went right. But this def. put things in perspective. I believe both of us will have many Mother's Days to celebrate in the future.
