um, 7 years?!

last night i was reading alacia's blog and had a holy crap moment. she posted about how its been 5 years since she graduated high school.  i then did the quick math and realized on the 9th of june it will mark 7 freaking years since i have graduated high school. i about had a heart attack. it doesn't seem like it has been that long. well, it does but not really. above are a few photos from my high school days. i sure miss those girls in those pictures. high school was the best because of the group of friends i had. we had so many good times. my best friend ashley who is most of these photos and i had SO many good memories. i still think about all the times we spent at mary's pizza shack, or drives on the back roads, and the rap sessions to mac dre. { we thought we were so cool!} or the cheer practices where we just goofed off. good times!

maybe it's because my little sister graduates from the very same high school on the 6th of june but, i have been thinking a lot about my high school experience. even got my yearbooks out the other day {oh man the clothes were so funny!!} it got me thinking about the memories i mentioned before but. also made think of the hard times. high school is rough, man. in high school is where i did a lot of learning about who i was and who i wanted to be. i also learned that the friends you keep help make you, you.

now, that i took a stroll down memory lane i will say i am soo glad i don't ever have to do high school again. i feel for all those who still do but, am a little jealous of them because they don't have to be adults they get to go to football games, not pay bills, and just be teenagers. oh those were the days, right?

how long has it been since you graduated?

psstt....those yellow cap and gowns are still ugly 7 years later. haha!

a day at the beach {in utah}

yesterday dan had the day off and we took full advantage of the weather. the night before we decided to head to pineview reservoir in huntsville, utah. oh my goodness, i fell in love with that little town. it is the cutest thing ever, plus it has a beach. the beach wasn't even that crowded at first which was amazing. it was so much fun, just talking, eating and soaking up the sun. the water however, was so cold. reminded me of the nor cal beaches.

it was the perfect way to spend memorial day and think of all those who have and are serving for our freedoms. i feel so blessed to live in this country! did you all have a good day?!

come back to tomorrow to see some more photos from our weekend!

to all you mother's....

{to save this printable i made right click and save or pin it to pinterest}

i have a special place in my heart for mother's day. you see i have my momma, but then i have a step mom too. both these women have helped me grow into the woman i am today. my mom and heather {my step mom} are amazing examples of what kind of mother i want to be. i love them both so much!

earlier this week, i was feeling a little down for a few reasons. one,  my momma is so far away in ca and i wont be with her today. two, i thought i would be pregnant by now and on my way to being a mom myself. i am not and felt sad. after several days of prayer and much needed talks with hubby i am okay with it. i know my time i will come. i will have many mother's days where i get to be celebrated. until then i will celebrate all the mom's in my life who have been amazing examples to me. the last thing that makes me a little sad is something that really hasn't effected me til recently. {mom, this might make you cry...sorry!} is not having my mom's mom here with us anymore. {she passed away when i was in 7th or 8th grade} there are so many things i wish she were here for. i think of how if she were still alive we could visit her often as orem is not that far from me now, or how dan and her would probably be best friends. it's times like these i am so grateful for my knowledge of the gospel. i know my grandma do do {doreen} is waiting for us and we will see her again someday.

now, that i am married i get to add one more mom to that list. my wonderful mother in law susan. i really lucked out in that department. i hear some crazy stories of mother in laws who aren't very nice to their daughter in laws. oh boy, i feel blessed to have susan in my life. she is always there for me to give me great advice or to help us in anyway. she really is the best. i love her!

&& finally, i want to say thank you to all those who i have come in contact with in my life who showed me what it is to be a mother. grandmas {thankful i have more than 1}, friends, young women leaders, aunts, cousins, blog friends and even strangers. i am a better person because of you all.

so, today is your special day {really everyday should be} the hubby and i wish you all a happy mother's day and we love you all!

photos + such

just some things going on lately:

+ last saturday we walked around temple square and i was in awe of the pretty flowers everywhere. i love spring so much!

+ iron man 3. okay, can we talk about pepper's abs in this movie. holy cow. girl, has got some abs!

+ we have caught some sort of sickness in casa de clark. we are both battling sore throats and to top it off i get my monthly too. so not cool. i pretty much i wanna stay in a ball all day. oh wait i have. i cannot catch a break. first my ears, then a sore throat and now HORRID cramps. yeah yeah, i know poor me. okay, i am done complaing now. ;)

+ sometimes you just need a cheeseburger. right? mmm.

+ lately i been pondering this blog of mine. i am feeling so blah with it. i think i am in a blogging rut. i feel like there are bloggers who post such inspiring things all the time and i feel so un inspired lately, so ladies help me out! i might not always update this blog but i am always on instagram. do you follow me there? @erykaann. maybe one of these days i will get a huge amount of inspiration for some awesome sauce post. maybe! til then you will have to deal with outfits and photos. do you still love me? haha.

+ guys, have you tried a frosty in a waffle cone? um, your taste buds will die and go to heaven. i think i need one right now.

there you have some random things from lately. it's finally friday and i am so excited! hope you all have a happy weekend!!

d.i.y//pop of neon

using this tutorial i tried to make some boring flats into some dang cute ones....here is what i found that worked for me: you can file this diy under pinterest success!

what you need:
+ spray paint {i used krylon brand}
+ painters tape
+ nude flats or heels {mine were from my mom i believe she got them at walmart last year}
+ paper towels
+ area to spray paint
+ newspapers or something to lay down to spray paint on
+ nail polish remover & q-tips

how to:
1. tape off the part of your shoe you want painted. i just did the toe but you could even do the heel too. {that would be super cute!} be sure to tape the sole part too. i didn't at first and had to use nail polish remover to take it off.
2. tape a paper towel over the rest of the shoe to prevent paint getting on them.
3. now, take them outside and spray 2-4 coats on. i did 4 i believe, because i already had tried black before so i was trying to cover it up. 3 would be perfect if they are plain already!
4. let dry for 1-2 hours. take tape off and use the q-tip & nail polish remover to get paint off anywhere you dont want it. i used it to clean up the line.
5. now, wear your cute shoes. seriously, i am in love with them and cannot wait to wear them!

if you do this diy share some pics i wanna see what you come up with!
xoxo

coral + blue

blouse: fashion corner warehouse, bountiful //maxi skirt: simple addiction //undershirt: downeast basics//shoes: target //purse: tai pan

this weekend wore me out. more about that later on this week but, i asked you all if sharing my sunday outfits would be a good idea and you all said yes, yes, yes! warning, i am no fashion blogger and have no idea what the heck i am doing when posing for pictures. not to mention how awkward it feels to have dan take pics of me in the backyard. haha!

excuse me for a second why i talk about my amazing husband. lately, i have been thinking about how lucky i am to be married to my best friend. he is always there to make me laugh and to tell me he loves me. he is the best, here is an example: last tuesday i had an appointment with the ear, nose and throat specialist because my ears have been clogged forever {remember when i had that ear infection in feb}. he took time out of his bust work day to come with me.

i didn't mind going alone but, i am sure glad he did. the doctor had to clean my ears out with all these scary looking tools and it hurt. turns out i have an infection by my right ear drum {what the what...is right!} it is not fun. he gave me some ear drops {$70 ear drops i might add...ugh!} and have to go back tomorrow for a follow up. it made me feel a little better knowing my amazing husband was there with me, and he didn't even get mad when the drops were so much money he said "you need them, you need to get better!" you see, i am the type of girl who has to tell him when i spend money because i feel so guilty. haha. he usually says "i dont care!" haha. he's the best and i am so glad i get to get be with forever.

anyways, this post is super random and all over the place. i am so tired right now and i apologize if this doesn't make any sense. you still love me right?? ps. let's pray my ears are okay and it's not something serious. considering it still hurts a little.

stripes + dots

cardigan: american eagle {a long time ago}//shirt: from my moms closet before i moved//skirt: old navy last fall. buy one similar here//wedges: blowfish //necklace: urban peach boutique. see it here.

on sunday's im all about comfort. you see, i work with the nursery age children. so there is a lot of chasing littles around and playing with toys on the floor. so being comfortable is a must. skirts that are made from jersey material are my best friend. other than my maxis and my comfy dresses this skirt is a staple for my sunday outfits. it's from old navy and i wish i had got more when i grabbed this one. good thing they still have a ton of colors! i usually wear sandals or flats but, i took a risk wearing those 4 in wedges last week but, honestly they are so comfy that they didn't bug me too bad.

im thinking of starting a new series on the blog having to do with my sunday outfits. since sunday's are one of the only days i put a lot of effort into my outfits. whatcha think? good idea? bad idea? or is that trying to hard? haha. i am by no means a fashion blogger. trust me. i am not that cool. haha. i always just feel so awkward having dan take pics of me outside. haha. anyways....whatcha think?
